NVFS Pitch
For a classroom assignment, we've been given the task of pitching some illustrations to the Northern Virgina Family Services organization for their upcoming annual report. The information given to us has been somewhat cryptic. We were given the task to create a conceptual illustration that showed both elements of the family and ethnic diversity. Upon the completion of our first series of thumbnails, we learned that the company's concept of "conceptual" was slightly different than what we understood it to be in our minds. After a bit of rethinking and reworking, this ended up being my contribution to the project.

Painting Experiments
So I popped by Fernbank Museum's swing session out of curiosity mostly, considering I can't dance. I didn't have a sketchbook, but I did have a painter's book about how to make money as a fine artist. I didn't like the book, it was fluff, depressing, and pompous. So I sketched some of the sites and pulled out my acrylics to mess around a bit.

Painting Commission
So this is a break from normalcy for me. Color! Paint! Minimal lines! Gasp! Did Ethan Mongin really do this? Or did some demon from a parallel hell dimension possess his body just long enough to post this polychromatic oddity to his blog site? We may never know the answer.....Or...the answer could be.....that Ethan needed money to buy a ring for a lovely lady and decided that he'd rather do it by painting as opposed to stealing or shanking an inter-dimentional hell beast that might not have appreciated being mugged by a skinny white boy.
